IN THE BEGINNING

In the beginning, the Bean Blossom Blues Fest was founded to be a harmonica convention for customers of Bushman Music Works. We decided to throw a party in the woods of Brown County, Indiana for our harmonica customers. Some of our customers were famous blues musicians (see Snooky Pryor and Willie Foster) so we invited them to perform on stage. Originally we intended for the Bean to be a small event to be attended by 100 or so of our harmonica customers, but when word began to spread that Snooky Pryor and other great blues musicians were coming to perform, the general public wanted to come. To this day however, Bushman sells many Fest tickets to their harmonica customers. Based on 2010 ticket sales reports, more than 1,000 of the 2010 Bean Blossom Blues Fest attendees were harmonica players; making the Bean the biggest gathering of harmonica players in the USA.

WHY HARMONICA PLAYERS LOVE THE BEAN

There are many good reasons for harmonica players to come to the Bean; here are some of them: The Beginners Harmonica Seminar, the Advanced Harmonica Seminar, a harmonica contest, meeting great harmonica friends, learning playing tips from other players, hearing and watching excellent harmonica music on stage, and there are many chances to play and jam with others at the Fest.
