Call Us...
I
don’t mean to sound uppity or rude, but we’ve never hired
any band to perform at our Bean Blossom Blues Fest from a
solicitation. So please don't call us
- if we want to hire your band, we'll call you. Don't
send us any promo material - you can read why below.
Our
Band Hiring Policy...
We hire
bands as a result of one thing; a noteworthy number of Bean attendees
suggest the band. They tell us their wishes via surveys distributed
at the fest, or through telephone conversations, or they post their
wishes on our Bean Blossom Blues Fest forum.
Don't
Waste Your Money Sending CD's...
Unfortunately,
our band hiring policy rules out most bands, but that’s how we
do things. We’ve been very successful at building the Bean
Blossom Blues Fest into one of the best fests in the USA, so
we’re going to stick to our way of doing things. Maybe we’ll
come begging you someday when our attendees start recommending your
band – you never know, but don’t send
us any promo material as it’ll just get pitched without
even a listen! We learned a long time ago, not to hire from a promo
CD. Many lead singers/guitar players will throw together some
talented session musicians and put out a great CD, but that has
nothing to do with who actually shows up for the gig to play. In our
early years, we got burned by trusting CDs – now, we don’t
listen to anyone’s CD as a process of hiring them - period. If
our attendees know and like a band, or if we like them (by
"like" I mean we think they're talented musicians who put
on a fun show), that’s all that matters. Our top concern is that
all Bean attendees have fun and get to experience quality entertainment.
Come Anyway...
Come and
enjoy the great, spontaneous jams that form randomly around the park
during the fest. The Bean is a musician's fest - you'll meet lots of
other serious musicians just having fun. Helpful hint: More than one
band has been hired for a paid gig after being discovered in the
backwoods of the park jammming.
